Hi and welcome to a brand new year at Plato Academy. Our first week was a blast and I’m so excited to see what the class creates this year. While I encourage you to check out the class blogs that the students wrote, I want to highlight the norms that the class helped create together. After starting with a discussion of times that we felt comfortable sharing and times we didn’t, we came together to try to pull out those things that helped create a good classroom environment. We worked independently and as a group to create norms (after we clarified the difference between rules and norms) that we hope will make this a great year. The class then worked together to post these norms, leaving space at the bottom for more norms to be added later. I am incredibly proud of the thinking that the class displayed and the ways they worked together to create a healthy and respectful space.
